Institute of Advanced Motorists Car Badge

Institute of Advanced Motorists Manufactured in brass, chromed and enamelled. Having the Members name engraved on the front was optional, your I.A.M. number was an alternative or simply left blank. Founded in 1956 the badges were a reward for completing the Institutes driving test. Motorists were issued with Red badges, both tang and side fixing holes were available. Enamelled badges were available from 1956 into the 80's Commercial Vehicle drivers were issued with blue badges with a letter "C" in the centre.
