Ivan Gerald Mauger, OBE A New Zealander born 1939 in Christchurch, New Zealand Winner a record six World Championships First riding for Newcastle in 1966, where he won his first World Championship in 1968 In 1969 he changed to Belle Vue Aces winning the World Championships in 1970'1971 and 1972 In 1977 riding for Exeter who he joined in 1973, came World Championship number 5, equalling Ove Fundin's record 5 wins Riding for Hull in his second year 1979 he won his record Sixth World Championship. Returning in 1984 from three years back in his homeland he again rode for Exeter
