Leicestershire. Manufactured in Resin and having a Stainless backing plate, by Renamel of London from the early 60’s until 1974 when the County Boundaries of England were changed. Shield is quartered, a five sided star on a circle (Torteau) coming from the Beaumont family. Robert de Beaumont was the first Earl of Leicester. (1103). In the second quarter is a Rampent Lion with two tails (Queued) from the arms of Simon de Montfort (1206-1264) An ermine plume (feather) is in the third quarter, being the badge of John of Gaunt Earl of Leicester. In the final quarter is a sleeve (manche) from the Hastings family. And from Hinckley (simon de Montfort) comes the zig zag division, not vertical (palewise) as in Hinckley but Horizontally (fesswise). The Crest on top of the Shield shows a Fox running (courant) on a coloured wreath and refers to fox hunting that started in an organised form in Leicestershire in the 1690's.
